Nantucket Adventure Session by Kristen Swain | Boston and Nantucket Photographer Serving Families, Couples, and Brands

This magical mid-July family session aboard The Blue Peter Yacht on Nantucket was absolutely next-level — a family photographer’s dream. Mom Nicole Eachus had a vision for a Ralph Lauren-inspired family session on a sailboat and, working with Nantucket Mermaids and Captain Mat of The Blue Peter, we brought it to life. Mother Nature was on board too (pun not intended). She brought us the most beautiful, mild, sun-kissed evening as we sailed all the way out to Great Point Lighthouse and back. I’m a little embarrassed to admit that this was as close as I’ve ever been to Great Point. This whole experience definitely left me wanting more … of all of it. More trips to Great Point, more photo shoots grounded in creative inspiration and calling, definitely more time on sailboats, and more families that want a genuine adventure together.

With that in mind, I’ve officially created a new offering for my 2026 portrait clients, which I’m calling the Adventure Session. This is a longer outing where we will be focused on an experience, and creating photos that tell a story. My Classic Session (which is one hour, at a single location) will still be available, but for those who are looking for something more, I can’t recommend this new option enough.

The possibilities are endless. In the summer on Nantucket, we can go out on the water together like I did with Nicole and fam, or perhaps we drive out to Great Point and capture photos both along the way and when we reach the destination. Or maybe it’s a bike ride to your favorite beach, where a picnic dinner and bonfire await you. In spring or fall in Boston, this might look like a hike at the Fells or Blue Hills, or a walking session around the city where we stop in at a café and/or museum to capture you and your family or partner doing the things you love most.
