Hi there! Welcome to the KSP blog, a journal about photography, business, and pursuing your passion. Stay a while and say hello!

Hi, I'm KRISTEN.

First off, I want to wish all mothers and mother figures out there a Happy Mother’s Day! Spring is a time for reflection, gratitude, and new energy, so it is truly the perfect time to show some love to those around you (and maybe treat a mom to brunch!).

With so many events happening lately, I wanted to provide a brief update on some new projects, and express my appreciation for those that supported my Spring Motherhood Photography event last month. Moms and their kids were able to document amazing moments together in 30-minute petite sessions. The photos were taken in a high-ceilinged South Boston studio full of natural light that gave the photos a bright and fresh springtime feeling. I’m so happy to have been able to capture intimate, loving, and some silly moments between moms and their kids, and wanted to share a few of my favorite shots of the day!

The icing on the cake was most certainly the generosity of the many businesses that contributed to the goodie bags for each mom and child in attendance! A special thanks to Joy Street Kids (they provided jammies!), Johnston Family Acupuncture, SOMA Yoga, and Row House Lovejoy Wharf. Photographing young children is often seen as a daunting task, with many parents struggling just to get their little one to smile at the camera. I always focus on the kids and try to make it fun for them, because if they’re having fun, you’ll have fun too. My hope is that the goodie bags for the kids, filled with little toys and treats, sealed the deal and even made them excited for their next photo shoot too. 🙂

Everyone who was able to show up for this year’s Motherhood Photography Event in Boston had a blast — there was a great range of mothers and children, from sessions with infants (nine and ten month olds!) to moms with 5- and 6-year olds. Kudos to the moms that were up for an outfit change halfway through!

I don’t take for granted the trust you place in me and my work, allowing me to have a hand in the memories that will sit on your mantles or hang on your walls for years and years. I know that you moms, especially, appreciate being able to capture and display these special moments with your little ones through quality photos you can eventually pass down to them.

Speaking of things you can pass down, for the last-minute folks out there scrambling to think of a proper gift for mom (myself included), I have two new products I’ve just begun offering to clients: MUSEA frames and Indie Print Co albums. These skilled crafters create professional-level artwork and keepsakes featuring the photos that matter the most to you. Home is truly where the heart is, and I can think of no better gift than a gift that will serve as a daily reminder for mom that she’s doing a great job. Photos of her happy kids on the walls will bring her endless joy and satisfaction.

MUSEA frames are high-quality, long-lasting, and minimalist frames that are industry tested and client approved. They encourage you to give your photos the spotlight they deserve — and make your home look pretty darn great in the process. An album from Indie Print Co allows you to feature all of your favorite photos from your photo session in one place. Having a tangible multi-page book to tell your story is priceless. If you’re anything like me, when you see a photo album on the coffee table or console at a friend’s house, you’re thrilled! You know that book will give you a deeper look into your friend’s life — and inevitably there’s a great story in there, whether it’s something that happened at the photo shoot, or something wonderfully unique about one of the kids’ personalities that is captured in the photographs. In my opinion, if the album is well done, it will almost certainly trigger laughter, tears, or both by the time you’ve turned every page. These gorgeous conversation-starters are both luxurious and durable. They’re made to last a lifetime and will help ensure your memories do as well.

My Mother’s Day print sale applies to all prints, including frames and albums, featuring photographs from your recent session. I recently extended the sale through the actual date of Mother’s Day (this Sunday, May 14th), so be sure to pop into your gallery to take advantage of the opportunity to save 20% on artwork between now and then.

That’s it for today! I’ll be back in a couple of weeks with a new post. In the meantime, with summer quickly approaching, it’s a good time to get on my mailing list if you’re not already. Email subscribers get first dibs on special event registration and promotions. If you’re going to be visiting Nantucket this summer, you can book your family, engagement, or branding session here, or email me for more details.
